hey everyone i have a '78 f150 351 modified and i just put a edelbrock preformer 400 intake manifold on with a thunderseries 800 cfm 4 barrel carb. i put it all on and everything went on good and got the carb tuned and took it for a 5 mile test drive and it ran great. thismorning i started it up and it would barley idle and i lost all power so i was looking around and i saw oil and it looked like it was comming from by the intake manifold by the backside of the engine. i turned the truck on and i had 25 psi oil pressure and when i would push the throttle it would keep rising. and another thing was there was gas leaking really bad from the back fuel tank so i have no idea what is going on with it if you have any ideas i could sure use the help thanks.
The intake manifold does not seal pressurized oil so that leak would not be directly related to oil pressure. Sounds like you just didn't get the gasket to seal properly. On the ends of the gasket did you use cork or rubber end seals? I would leave those out and use silicon on the ends.
As far as the running condition. I had a similar issue with my truck. There is a short rubber fuel hose on top of the tank that connects to a steel fuel line. My rubber line developed a crack and would leak when the tank was full or if I was on a downward incline. It also made the truck run lean at times since it was sucking in air. Good luck.
okay thanks for the help guys the line on the tank was cracked and as for the oil when i rerouted a vacume hose i he the pressure gauge line and broke it without noticing thanks again for the help
