There supposed to be a snap ring holding the stock hub on. I see the groove, but no snap ring, and the hub isn't going anywhere without some excessive force. Any ideas? Is there something inside that could also act as a fastener? (I'm ready to convert to manual lock hubs and be done with these factory headaches) Any input would be appreciated if you've dealt with these. THX! Jeff
the only experience i've had with them is to take a rubber mallet and tap on them from site to side and top to bottom to get them to loosen up. on one set i took some WD40 and sprayed around them and let it set for a few minutes and then tapped on it again. when i sat "tap" it's more than a tap, but mot like hitting them trying to explode them...... so that is a judgment call on that one.
after a few taps each direction they started to loosen up and worked their way out!
There's a rubber seal on the hub lock ,tide fit .
Like Teammudd said ,rubber mallet and pull them out.
No snap ring? Lucky you didn't loose your hub lock.
Headaches with it ,let me know ,I'll take them of you.
The new set of Warns has one small phillips screw on each hub holding the spring loaded part of the hub together.
My first inclination was to remove it as it appeared to be a temporary screw until installation as the cap seems like it would retain everything once installed. However, the cap fits over the screw w/o issues and the hub seems to engage and disengage fine while on the jackstands. Should the screw stay or should it go? Thanks again for the help fellas! Jeff
