Winch Mount

Does anyone have pictures or recommendations for a brush guard type winch mount? I really don't want to replace the bumper, I prefer the bolt on type brush guard. I think this might be my next project on my 04 Ex.

One posssibility is a front receiver hitch so the winch is only there when you need it. And you keep the front bumper.

Check the specs on the guard carefully if you find one. Most are not made to handle a winch... Also the recommended standard is a winch with rated capacity 1 1/2 times the weight of the vehicle so you are at 12000 lb winch... You may find a hide a winch setup that usually just extends the stock bumper forward and then installs a mounting plate behind the bumper between the frame rails.

That being said, Winch ratings leave a lot to be desired.... for example a medium duty electric winch rated at 8K will probably outlast and out pull a 12K recreational rated winch like u see advertized in truck magazines...
the other choice is go old school like a Warn 8274... "the classic Jeep" winch.. if you check their site you will see it sells for over $2000 new even though its been made for like 3 decades or more now..... There is always a ****** block which will double the pulling capacity of the winch too. Are you actually planning on using it or as is often the case... have it for looks....
I have bought several used winches over the years and its amazing once u get past the dirt and grime and often the first layer of cable on the drum, the cable will look brand new...
