Hi guys, Im brand new to diesels and Im calling on a 94 f250 7.3 tonight. The guy says its a powerstroke and I know they started in late 94, but I just saw a post that says in 94 they were strickly manuals. Is this true? This truck is an auto and i want to know what im calling on. Thanks alot
If it's an auto and has a turbo it's an IDI turbo.
Been there, done that.
Found a truck for the right price, was a '94 and was told it's a Power Stroke. I said you sure? He says yeah, why?
I drive 1 hr to look see and it's a turbo IDI. He still says it's a Power Stroke cuz it has a turbo and IDI didn't come with a turbo.
In '94 you could get an IDI, then a turbo IDI part way through the year, and finally a Power Stroke.
Yep I found that out when I was shopping for my truck. Just one of those strange change over years. I guess the turbo'ed IDI trucks had head gasket issues, thats what I heard though.
I should know this stuff, but I've been looking for a OBS 7.3L but also want the DI so I guess just so I dont screw around I'll look for a 95-97 and by pass the 94's.
I have way to much info to store in my small brain to keep these details... lol
