How many brands of oil filters for the 6.0 are just repackaged racor filters?
Is it just the Motorcraft and International or are there others? I though I read in one of the forums that Fram are repacked Racors.
I have also read that at times Fram repackages Racor oil filters for the 6.0 but I personally don't trust this to be the case at all times. A company like Fram may change from one original manufacturer to another without any notice to the customer. For my peace of mind I only use Motorcraft or Racor (International not available in my area). I normally try to purchase from Diesel Filters Online as their prices are much better than the dealership.
If you compare the two they both have the same numbers imprinted on them, in otherwords, the same filter, and like 69cj, I also have a dozen of them laying around.
I hit up K-mart when they had them for $10 also. Awwh the good ole days, gotta love'em. I was one of those out west. Heavy assault picked me up some since we do not have a Pep Boys here, thanks again.
It's been over a year now since Pep Boys had their sale on our filters, but the last sale I bought 16 filters driving over 2 counties hitting all the stores. I paid $7 for 2 filters with the coupon, a few stores insisted those filters were exempt from the sale until I asked them to double check. If the filter has any of these patent #'s it's a racor, some are made in USA and others are made in Germany. 6,086,763 6,554,139 6,837,993 6,983,851 6,986,426, 7,086,537 RE38,917 The German made ones have 2 of the above numbers, and also has a 03DFR code which might be a date code.
Why not trust a FRAM when you pull them out of the box and its IDENTICAL? Must not mind wasting money I guess. I have over a dozen stock piled in my garage, all racor.

You can trust the Frams when they have the patent numbers listed above. All the Racor filters I got from Pep Boys were packaged in Fram box's.
