Those look good, have you had a heavy load on the bed with these tires? I like the way it looks, but would be concerned with it rubbing the wheel wells if you were hauling some serious weight.

I am running stock size on my f250 and have seen it close, but at the same time I had load enough on the bed I wouldn't have wanted to talk to a dmv officer.......so I was just curious how much I could go up in size and still not have rub issues

Im personally torn between 3 -

goodyr wrangler mt/r w/kevlar

BF mudterrains

SS thornbirds

the thorns are the only one that doenst have my fitment... so Im not sure about those. I dont really need bigger tires, but thinkin theyd look cool as hell.

I go in the mud sometimes, but Ill be plowing more than anything once the snow hits.

.........what do yall think?
I have Cooper discoverer St Maxx and like most previous Cooper owners I have to say I'm Very happy! I've had bfg at , Toyo at and the standard Mt pattern and by far the Coopers are my favorite, not too loud, great in snow and mud and very strong sidewall, also rated load E. Best tire by far, I might try the Stt next buy the St Maxx is my favorite A/T tire I've ever owned and like them more then the M/T s I've had, heard great things about all Cooper tires and they won me over.

I’ll put in a little input here. As these are the tires we have tried on our logging fleet vehicles as well as my personal truck.

On my personal truck I ran the Falken Rocky Mountains, Hankook Mud terrains, Hankook all terrains, and the cooper all terrains in a 285/75/16, they have since released a second version of the Falkens. I have also ran the BFG all terrains. The BFG were by far the worst out of those 5, My uncle just picked up a set of their 235/80/16s for 525$ out the door mounted and balanced, they were ATM2s and not the older ones. Bought them for the screaming deal he got them for.
They pack with mud and do not clean, they are even worse than the Falkens in the snow; I got all of 31,000 miles out of them. I bought 3 sets of the Falkens as they were by far the longest lasting tire on a diesel I have ever ran. I just peeled trashed set number 2 off at 65,492 miles. I will also note this is not an unloaded daily driver truck, 11,000 of those miles were put on hauling 15-17k travel trailer across the country, and probably another 15-20 towing gooseneck dump trailers and heavy equipment at 18-22k lbs. for work. The other 30 were daily driven miles.

The Falkens were excellent tires for wear, horrible snow tires. I grooved them myself and it helped a ton. Funny thing was when they released the ATM2 their tread pattern was near identical of what I grooved into the ATM1. I like them because they were super quiet as well, sidewalls pulled harshness out of the road too.

Hankook ATMs. Excellent tire, probably the best snow tire I ran out of all of them and the second longest lasting tire to the Falkens.
Hankook Mud Terrains - Pattern is near Identical to the old BFGs not the retarded expensive Kevlars, however in a 35” tire, the Hankooks 100$ less than the BFGs and 10ply vs. the BFG 8 plys… not sure why anyone would go the other way.

Cooper ATW - Comparable between the Hankooks ATMs – Both lasted near the same and performed equally, bit quieter than the ATMs once the ATMs were below 50 treadlife.

Those are the tires I have ran and my experience. I’d choose the Falkens for towing and the Hankooks for the snow. I had the Wranglers on my gas truck, as well as the LTMs. The LTMs were awesome all around tires but were completely toast around 25k miles. With a fully loaded trailer and taking off in first and second gear hard it was pretty crazy to watch the factory siped rubber move on the carcass of the tire, phenominal grip, but they were soft and just wore away like a squeeze ball. The Wranglers Duratracs lasted about the same amount of time but had horrible lateral grip in the snow and were expensive like TOYOs…. Not a big fan of Toyos… nice looking tire that does not perform well IMO…. But hey they make tires that fit them big rims and I think that’s why they really appeal well in the market.

Seriously tho.. I drafted a letter to the editor of Diesel Power (I've been published there b4) based purely on their exposure about 16.5s and the fact that there is still a large community who has that rim size and would like other roadworthy options (ATs & MTs) seeing as how BFG removed the 16.5 from their ATs when they started producing the 2.. Honestly I'm pretty fuc!$ing pissed about the fact that the only MAJOR tire manufacturer I can get 35s from is now Interco... Dont get me wrong their cool tires and I had a set of SSRs that went down the road awesome but the just wore out too fast to justify the $$$$.. So now I'm looking at used BFG Baja MTs off H1s (I've run these b4) or the rarer Goodyear MTRs... Used tho.. 90/100% tread but used none the less..

:-) Totally understand. Where are you located? The goodyears militarys go for around 500 near new or new...shipping is just the killer if you are not near surplus depots.
