Typically I don't drive in the fields if it's too muddy, messes up the pastures anyway. But it seems like every couple of years I do something stupid and get myself stuck. If the tractor is close by, I just pull myself out. A few times I've had to be pulled out by others. Usually when I get pulled out by others, I'm stuck enough that they at least have to try a little to get me out, and that's with me spinning my wheels also.

Today was just sad. My 4 tires were sunk down in ruts deep enough that the mud was covering the rubber and just touching the wheel. The ruts were about 4' long. I backed up in the rut and let the clutch out as she started to pull me and she didn't even spin a tire yanking me out. She pulled me far enough that my back tires were about 10' past the ruts from my front tires and we disconnected the tow strap. I made it another 10 feet before I was stuck again.

She was standing there watching and she just said, what the heck's wrong with you? I had to have her pull me out again.

I can't believe she didn't even spin a tire pulling me out. It's like her truck wasn't even trying. It wasn't too bad at first since I could blame it on having a trailer hooked up, but after she pulled me out the first time and I left the trailer behind, the only excuse I could come up with is the tread in my tires was full of mud.

A 4X4 and a good working set of ESOF's and you can turn the switch and keep rolling. Oh but I am sure you know that

2wd dually will get stuck in wet grass from my experience. I have seen it. Power to pull a house off it's foundation and the traction to dig a hole right there.

Sure. When they simply float over the stuff instead of through it. I had a buddy in high school that had a Suzuki Samuri hardtop. That damn thing would go about anywhere, and he hardly ever needed 4wd.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Mike. I've almost been stuck in wet grass before (with 12,000 lb trailer), but granny gear in my stick helped me out of it. Changing the rear diff to include the proper amount of friction modifier helped a bunch too.

I'm not ashamed of getting my 2wd stuck, I'm just a little embarrassed by having my 350 drug around like it was a rag doll by someone who didn't even get any mud on their truck.

Chris....we have to give ya a little hell.We have to test our trucks every now and then to see what they will do......If your front end issues do not pan out,we will stick a front wheel drive under

No worries Chris. There is a reason for 4x4 trucks. They handle that stuff very well. Just ask Eddie with his 4x6 dually.

I think we all have been that situation before, just some are not brave enough to admit it openly like you!

I'm sure you would have clean her ride up if she did get something on it!

True, but on the road towing the load is where that will shine. I'm just saying.

Should have got the stick Ray. When I tried to move in 1st gear in tall wet grass and it was a bouncing no-go, I just dropped it down in granny and made my way out. Looks like I'm not the complete bottom of the feeding chain after all.
