Today I took delivery of two very good, never issued Walther P38 - P1 piostols. I have been looking for one for a long time, as I also collect firearms - they are in perfect condition, without marks, and complete with military holsters. Also in the box were 8 brand new magazines for them.. So cool.

I have a cousin on my wife's side who fought in WWII. In his possesion is a German Luger that he removed himself from a dead German colonel while in Germany. I have seen the firearm and it is mint.
He refuses to give to his kids since he thinks they will fight over it. So, he said he may give it to me IF he doesn't sell it.
I would buy it outright but I can't justify that kinda of cash even for a piece of history like that. So I hope that maybe......

I would love to get a P 08. They are an amazing piece of machinery, that is unlike anything else. Luger took an untried system from another gun maker, and modified it to perform flawlessly. Unfortunately however, the steel used was not the standard of modern steel, and the mechanism is badly affected by wear. A much used P 08 is not a reliable weapon anymore, it does not feed well. Still, I am looking for one for my collection - I had a very unreliable example once, that I unfortunately accepted an offer for that I regret having done. What I should have done is taken the thing apart and reworked it back to reliability - hindsight is such a wonderful thing.

Reminds me - if I go to San Diego there is a retired Chief that lives in Santee who builds up match grade Garands and M-14's.
I had a Garand once, and it only wet my appetite for an M-14...
