Today, as I was going to school, one of the boys was following me very closely in a Z71. He moved to pass me, and I thought to my self, "this ain't gonna happen", so I put the pedal to the metal and walked away from that sucker. I know I shouldn't be doing stuff like that, so I told him that was a one time thing. He said that I had done proved myself to him and he wasn't gonna do that again, he didn't know that a Ford had more power than his Craperado. When I showed him the engine, he suddenly understood why he had no chance. It gets interesting when a small block (350)attempts to take on a big block Ford (460)
I test drove a '94 F-250 with the 460. It was a 4x4 with standard cab. Even idling, that thing sounded mean at the tailpipe. Got it out of the dealer's lot and onto a straight road, then snapped open the throttle plates. Must've consumed a gallon of fuel right that moment but Oh my LORD that thing just wanted to push me right through the seat! I watched the tach jump and climb in perfect sync with the thunder rumbling from beneath the hood. What a remarkable experience that was!
I have a 1990 E350 motorhome that weighs 10,000 lbs and the 460 V8 does a nice job moving that hulk out. It never lacks for power and I often am passing cars with it. Sounds wonderful with the pedal to the metal.
