I'm pretty sure I drove through Snoqualmie just before the USS Nimitz World Cruise while taking a truck home to Drummonds Tenn.

That would have been around '97 or '98. I do remember that once I got up in the hills east of Seattle I left the highway to follow signs to a gas station and after about 12 miles I decided the old advice was true:

Never leave the interstate to find a gas station you can't see from the road.

I figured it was one of the areas of the US where it would be pretty easy to drop out of sight for an extended period, since anyone who came after me would run out of fuel!

Hey all, I live in a small town in monroe county called tellico plains, just on the outskirts of the cherokee national forest. This town is small and simple, and frankly I wouldn't have it any other way. There are a lot of history that lives in this town from the trail of tears the cherokee indians used to P.O.W. camps that my grandfather spoke of many years ago. The stories that stuck in my mind the most were the ones of badcock lumber company. I can't quote dates but nearing a decade ago. Tellico has a river that flows trough it that badcock used to use to transport lumber out of the mountains above tellico. I remember my grandfather showing me a picture of an old timer riding one of these giant, virgin timber logs off the river. It was huge! I had never saw anything like it and never will! That picture is long gone but never forgoten! there was also a railway that followed the winding river up which also brought many brave and courages tales. Knowing of my forfathers history makes me proud to be where I'm at. I wouldn't change it for anything!
