Hello all, I bought my 78 F100 2wd last November. I picked her up for $500. Solid in all the right places. I drive her when the weather is to bad for me to ride my bike mainly winter months here in MD. I have done a lil twicking here and there to make sure the 302 keeps running. It has a ford racing 4bbl dual plane intake with a holley 650 on top, updated ignition and mustang shorty headers. I know I know they were laying around in the garage it will be getting some long tubes. There is a C6 coupled to the 302 with a Ford 9" out back. I named her bruiser for 2 reasons she has a lot of bent sheetmetal and I plan on hurting a few feelings on the street when the go light turns green. This past weekend I broke out my stud welder and removed the nasty crease and dent form the hood. Maybe by next summer she will be ready for a full primer and maybe some paint.
Well I was trying to post pics but its not working check my profile for them
Hey, welcome to FTE, looks like you got a nice truck to start out with! I always liked the look of the 78, I think due to the fact it was the only year with that grill with the round lights. Kinda makes it different from the rest. You always know it is a 78 for sure.
Lots of great information here if needed, if not just ask, and someone will surely chim in and help you out!!
looks like you got a nice truck to start out with, also i like the '78s over the '79s, as i am not a fan of the rectangular headlights, i prefer the 73-77 split grille, but the '78s round headlights really look good with the open grille,
Welcome aboard; and I guess I'm aliitle or if not alot different; I recently restore a 78 f100 for my daugther and change it from round to square / retangular lights. ( It's in my gallery) But its true the round lights look better! Building myself a 76 model 4x4 (Highboy) currently.
Thanks to all. Customcab- nice trucks. I love the old Fords. Since the new adition to the family My loving wife advised me Ok told me to get rid of my 00 Drag Pony. So I figured it was time to make her happy and me by getting myself an Old Pick Up to take her place. I am having alot more fun working on the 78.
Welcome to you also!. As I had just got onboard not to long ago, and there is alot of great advise out there just waiting for the asking. Nice truck also!.
