I am looking at a wrecked 99 F350 for parts to fix 2 trucks . I cant tell if its a short or long bed by the pics . I was wondering if someone could tell by the vin # ?
if you can see the gas filler door, the long beds are right at the front of the bed, where the short beds the gas door is in the middle between the front and the wheel opening.
the gas filler door is in a different location in a long bed or short bed that is how i tell the difference in pictures. that is what i was explaining.
that is a short bed truck. It is hard to see, but the filler door is right before the flare, on a long bed, it would be right at the front edge of the bed. it that at copart?
that is what I was hopeing for . I need a short box and cab for a 4x4 that was rolled . yea it is , I just hope I can get it right . buddie of mine needs engine for his F350 . we are just going to split the cost . Thanks for the help
There's not a whole lot of difference in length. The long bed is 8' and the short bed is 6' 9". The gas door is a good visualization to tell the difference. IIRC it is the same distance from the front of the bed. If the door looks like it's in-between the front of the bed and the wheel well (just in front of the flare), then it's the short bed. If the door looks a lot closer to the front of the box, then it's the long bed. At a distance (without the gas door reference) it is sometimes hard to tell the 1' 3" difference.
