OK.. So now I am kinda mad.... I just spent ALL day today taking all my pipes and I/C out and making them spotless, and now you guys are talking about clouds and stenches when I do this mod... Just how bad is the smell?? and also what kind of "cloud" are we talking about?? I don't want to drive around looking like Linus off of Charlie Brown....
That's an awesome way to put it man, LOL. No, its not that bad and can be very subjective. I depends on each truck and how much crankcase pressure, oil type and age. Some people never notice it and it drives others crazy.
Mines not really bothersome, but if I'm loading a trailer or putting the boat in the water I'll notice the ccv vapor cloud, that's the only time I dislike the ccv mod. It seems to be worse when its time for an oil change.
I run Rotella 15-40 to. Right before I did the ccv mod I had just changed the oil. The smell was pretty strong but disappeared after about 200-300 miles. Now I rarely catch a wiff of it. Thinking about making a trap and running it back into intake though. Will see doesn't bother quite that much yet though.
ok how do you make a trap and then run it back to the intake. how dose the trap trap the oil and return the vapors with out getting oil spray etc back into the intake
well i would be very intersted in how you would go about doing this. really on building ur trap where it would mount and how it would all tie together.
Guzzle has a great write up on his site. Chris (Ponyboychris) also has a write up, which I am following, and will finally put together, once I get around to purchasing the last couple parts I need, like the mounting bracket and rad petcock.
RACOR make a kit that is passive that includes a filter in either a right hand or left hand version depending on what side you want to route it. My son is going to put one on his 7.3L.
