December DP, 2 questions
1) In the Postal Route page 24, someone claiming to be a former Ford tech says to beware the 6.0 at around 150k there has been " many" customers bringing their trucks in with broken crankshafts. He also states they were fixed under warranty, so there I * assume * that the truck has the ESP? Well the question is did anyone else hear of this, or is this just a guy stirring the pot in a national publication? Comments?
2) If you saw p. 33, you have seen the much debated HSS is advertised, which is fine I'm not looking to start any trouble. However, it only talks about how it is for common rail engines. Nothing about HEUI, and OBTW wasn't this specifically developed to deal with the stiction in the 6.0? No mention of the 6.0 at all in this article.
I am currently using a 1/2 dose of HSS I had left from last yr and I'm waiting to see if it "cures" the cold stiction issue I've been having lately.
One of the things people seem to miss on the subject of the 6.0 is that the numbers of them on the road are unreal. I rember working on Taurs's every day back in the late 90's. we made a killing on them but they werea great product too.
I guess what im getting at is the more of them there are the issue you will see.
not hardly... Ive seen a few with tossed rods. And I would not even call that an epidemic.
As a matter of fact I dont think anyone here can say there is a major issue with the shortblock.
