Yes, many problems. TSBs, yes. Recalls are only for safety issues.

As I read news of the current TSBs (09-11-4 and 09-20-13)the Special Service Message 20836 (6/12/2009), and the Owner Manual Supplement t 9L8J 19A285 AA, June 2009, I believe Ford knows they have a problem, but doesn't really have a handle on a design fix. I'm going to follow those recommendations, but it might not be all that we need.
In the spirit of Halloween: Eventually, some poor soul will attempt to merge into a freeway where the "slow lane" is being used by a hotshot to pass on the right, the Escape's tranny will bog way down, and it will become a high-speed rear-end crash. Thank goodness the fuel tank isn't where it was on the Pinto. The tickets from the officers will read something like improper merge for one, and failure to yield for the other. In the hands of a trial lawyer and a sympathetic jury, any manufacturing or design quality defect can become a safety issue.
Anyhow, imagination aside, there is a summary of a bunch of reports by Escape owners with transmission problems on the CNN iBLOG. The Url is:
The link deals with Escape tranny problems on vehicles being towed - certainly a legitimate problem but it doesn't relate to non-towed vehicles. In my case I have 30,000+ miles on my 09 with no issues as it has been flawless.

I have been having problems out of mine surging or jerking on back roads around 20 - 30 miles per hour but don't do it all the time just enough to make you mad. Dealer can't figure it out been there 6 times by the way mine is a 08 v6 4wd any help would be appreciated.

Rusty,
In my eyes, yours is certainly a new Escape and you should have had better luck. But, I think yours is the earlier model transmission, as Ford switched to the newest (6F35) with the 2009s introduced in late 2008.
On the 2009s, people with problems that sound the same as yours have been going in for transmission computer reprogramming. I don't know what they do for the trannies before the 6F35
