#7 Injector line

I have begun to have the dreaded hard to start issue with my truck. I was checking things out under the hood and I noticed that the right hand bottom injector line coming off the IP is wet with fuel. Two questions: Could this cause a hard starting issue and how do I tighten the line? There must be a trick that someone knows about. Thanks.

There is a rubber seal under the cap nut at both ends..... they can be found at Diesel repair shops by applicable fuel line OD. 5/16 ID for the 2 on that line, 3/8 ID for the 1 on the lift pump to filter header connection. Do not over torque the seal.......just seal it.

What are we talking about here? The injection lines on my truck are metal, with a weird metal flare on the end, and the mating ends on the injector and the injection pump are both metal. The nuts compress the metal flare into the metal seat of the injection pump fitting and the injector.

I would try to tighten the line on the pump, but you may have to custom bend a wrench or get creative to get at it to tighten it. If you just can't get it, take a deep breath and take some of the other lines off to get to it.

If it doesn't stop leaking, I would suspect it's cracked like my #1 line did. Check along the line, and there should be some clamps holding all the lines together. If someone has taken them off, then I bet the line is cracked.

I may have to take an old 5/8" wrench to work and heat it up with the torch. Problem is it may take me several tries to get it right. I don't want to mess with the ones that are not leaking for fear I will induce a leak in ones that currently are not leaking.

Sorry about the confusion above....... i read the problem too quickly. I was refering to the Filter header to IP line.

There can be cracks in the hi pressure line cap nuts from over torquing, aligning the nipple in the fitting is required so finger tightening is possible.......damage can be done to the line nipple face if not aligned correctly and pulled tight with a wrench.
