I have an 2008 f-250 2wd and would like to replace the steering stabilizer with something a little heavier, but can't seem to find one available, does anyone know if they make one? Thanks.
man that's the second time in two days i haven't seen 2wd in a post and said something stupid, i gotta lay off the miller lite before posting apparently. no idea about your setup, sorry
I have my Return Authorization # right in front of me as I ordered that steering damper and it isn't even close. Told the rep from CPH that it does not work on 2wd and he said they would look into it, apparently hasn't been changed yet. The damper they sent has 1 threaded end and 1 sleeve and, if you look up under your truck, you'll see that you need a damper with a sleeve/bushing at both ends. I'm staying posted as I'd really like to change mine and have been told the Motorcrap OEM is no good.
Hey John, the timing on that was dead on. Dropping the package at FEDEX on my way out. I'll add that the customer service at CPH was excellent, RA was in my email the following morning.
That's great to hear....good customer service is huge. Not to hijack but I just got my Bilsteins mounted yesterday. Shock Warehouse. I ordered them with free shipping on Monday and fully expected them to not be here until next week sometime (free shipping generally means SLOW). Got them Wednesday and they're on now. I WILL use Shock Warehouse again.
Glad you caught that, I looked those up and there others they say will fit that app. on that web site, did you see the skyjkr part# s977500, mfr. #7500 they say it will fit 2 or 4wd, open it is 17.06 in., closed 10.48 in., is that the one you had? Thanks, let me know if you find one, I'll keep looking.
Hi Bayou, yep that's the one I got. The box said (took notes in case of a prob with return) "Skyjacker hydro7000 steering stabilizers" and the side panel stated Skyjacker OEM stabilizer SKY7500, but under that sticker was the #7003, which, to me, sounds like it might just be a different Skyjacker part #????? in which case the fault may well have been exclusively at CarPartsWholesale. I'm going to see if I can contact Skyjacker direct as, again, I really want to correctly replace mine. I'll post what I find out.
News flash
Bilstein has a 2wd steering stabilizer for our trucks. Check out shock warehouse, you know the routine make, model, description etc.
Just got mine (about 80 bucks including shipping), put it on Thursday and honestly the truck has never handled this well. This was the last component in my suspension needing a re-do.
To recap, the truck now has a hellwig 1 1/4" rear anti sway bar, KYB gas adjusts @ ea corner, Michelin AT/2s on -12mm offset XD Hoss rims, Energy front sway bar/end link bushings and now the bilstein stabilizer.
All I can say is GET ONE. I cannot believe the difference a well engineered steering damper makes. The on center vagueness is gone and the front end responds to even the slightest steering input. It was already handling well but this is great. Plus its a cool looking package....looks like brushed stainless.
Yep, I'm still here and still need one. Thanks for the heads up, do you have a part number on that, and do you have a lift kit or anything or are you still stock? Why did you replace the bushings on the front on a fairly new truck? How's the weather up there in chi-town, it should be snowing in a couple of weeks, huh. Still don't miss it, was 80 degrees and sunny here today, but we have a "cold front" coming through tommorow and it will be in the 60's and 70's for a high for a few days, don't know how we'll deal with it. Do you have any pics of the stabilzer on the truck? Thanks.
