What do I need to install a winch?

Will I need a new bumper too? I am clueless about this. What will I need besides a winch?

Thanks for your input.

There are different options here. You can mount a replacement bumper with the mounting point for the winch, you can put on a brush guard with a winch mount such as the Warn Trans4mer. Or you can do the mult-mount which uses a 2' receiver mounted behind the bumper. Check out Warn Industries website and you will see a lot of different options.

I like the idea of having a custom reciever mounted to the front, run the proper wiring harness, get a winch mounted to a plate that goes into the reciever, that way you can pull yourself out from the front or the rear(or pull some else out from the front or rear).

winch mount

I have this idea to use a piece of 6 inch chanel, square tube, heavy angle, and some plate and make an approximately 6 inch deep spacer to put a winch behind that will allow me to still mout the stock bumper. I figure with that I can also do a front mount reciever for putting a cable hook or another block for doubling or quadrupling my pulling power as well as for moving trailers. I could use the original tow hook mounts and bumper flanges to mount the spacer with a fabricated flange out front for attaching the bumper, i can buld shallow boxes over the winch to store the blocks and straps and some chain out of the way even though itll be a bit o weight out front. Then it gives me also a reaaallly nice place to stand when I am doing mods or maintainence underhood.

about 2k bucks i would'nt fab up anything if it was me.i would put the hitch in front that way u could run a winch up front or back. they make a quick connect power option you can add to the setup. i wouldnt skimp when doing something like this alot of times its just taken as a light issue.
