Yep Eddie,as a matter of fact i have two stops in BG,one at Ford Furniture, and one at Thorton Furniture.
Phil I will be out that way tomorrow also doing some shopping. What time are you planning on getting there maybe we can grab some BWW Hot wings across the road from Fords
Hey Phil, look at this link www.partsguyed.com , number 5 part is your likely culprit, the popping around corners and scuffing is most likely from the pinion gear set, there's 2 of them. By popping off the rear cover, in nuetral off the ground rotating the gear assembly, you can look in there and see if any teeth or missing, also reach your fingers down in the bottom of the pumpkin and feel around for broken teeth. I paid about 70.00 bucks I think 8 month ago for my Expy, cheaper than the SD. Ed could take care of you, less than a rear. It may look intimadating but changing out those pinion gears is a breeze and no dialing in so to speak. Good luck.
The 10.5 rear differentials have 3 spider gears and the case splits to replace the gear set. Remove of the carrier assembly is necessary to do this. IIRC, the early '99s may have had the 10.25 with 2 pinion spiders, but all late '99s to present have the HD 3 pinion spider gear set with split case.

Well,as long as the weather/roads are OK for me,i'll be leaving NC tomorrow AM,I have to start Monday AM up in Hodgenville KY,go down through Campbellsville and finally get through BG sometime Monday afternoon,so i don't have an exact e.t.a. for BG.I have to continue on to makew stops in Hopkinsville KY,and finish up in Clarksville TN Monday evening..whew...LOL. I make that very same run twice a week from NC,so we will definately have to plan a lunch one day.

Very good to know Roland, had no idea. Never did a 10.5 but assumed it had the same layout as the Expy's, appreciate the info. With 3 pinions, is it the same configuration, one on top, one on the bottom and where does the 3rd go??
They are evenly spaced at 120* apart. That's why the split case is needed. Looks like the evenly spaced points of a "Y" with the spider gears on each point. I tried to upload a picture of my split case, but it failed. I had a picture of it in my Photobucket pictures when I did my Truetrac.
EDIT: Never mind, here it is.

Is this it?? Nevermind Roland, I edited my previous post, I see now, there's no way to load them in, split the case, got it.. Sorry Phil, didn't know there was a difference, learn something everyday, sorry bud..

Hey guys,I know you're tired of my never ending rear diff. troubles...LOL..but I think I have it solved.I spoke with a guy today(hopefully I can go get it on sat.),he changed over to a Detroit Locker,he is gonna let me have all the components from his stock rear diff.,(same year as mine, only 86,000 miles),for $125.I just have to go get it and have a local guy do the install and set it up for me.I plan on being there for the install(probably a week or so,depends on his after Christmas schedule) to get some pics of the carnage.I will keep you guys posted.
