Could be an injector starting to go out. Mine did the same thing for a while until it got to the point that it would die if the motor wasn't hot. Not completely sure how you test if they are dying or not, I didn't have time to work on mine so I just had it towed to a shop.
How many miles were on the truck when the injector went out. I only have 96k. The truck was bone stock when I got it and the milage was at 81k-82k.
I purchased it in October of 2007. Yes, that is only 14k miles in two years. All the driving around I do is local.
What do you mean by "I did have a code of circuit #7 failure"
In a previous post/thread I said that my chk engine light had turned on. I had a friend of my stepfather's at the dealership read the computer and it showed a P0677. In my chilton book it said #7 circuit failure.
I came to everyone here at FTE, and the response was to replace the glow plugs, and check the harness UVCH. I replaced all 8 glow plugs. The check engine light never went out nor did I take it up to the dealership to have it cleared.
I havent had enough time to go to the dealership to have the same guy read it again to see if there is another code.
No, I didn't secure the harness anymore than just checking them. I had a 3 and 1 year old in the yard as a distraction. I was just lucky enough to have all the pieces back.
Should I get the retaining clips and put those in to narrow the problem down?

I certainly understand about the little ones.
I would at least ohm out the connectors to see if there is continuity to the injectors and GPs. You could rule out a loose connector.
After having this issue for the past few days, I have noticed that there isn't any smoke when I start the truck up. There has always been that little puff of smoke on cold starts.
I have to find the thread that showed the retaining clips and the part number. (UVCH)
After driving the truck, I have noticed the shaking more at the higher speeds above 40mph. Remember that I don't have the trans mod. The truck will down shift around 45mph. When I accelerate again I can definitily notice the issue.
Checking the ohms reading at the valve cover connector on the outside.
Pin Out
G G I I C I I G G
G=Glow Plug I = Injector C= Injector Common
NOTE: The injectors fire with a 115VDC signal from the IDM. *** Do Not pierce the wires to test.***
Test between "I" and "C" to test the injectors, should be less than 5.0 Ohms.
To check glow plugs Test between "G" and battery ground. Should be between 0.6 and 2.0 Ohms If your readings are not within these parameters you may have bad injector, glow plug or loose connector under the valve cover.
I just installed the fuel filter. No problem on the install, however after a test run the vibration is still there.
Now that I have driven it for a couple of days, it seems that it might be a shifting problem.
Remember that I dont have the shift kit, but I do have the DP tuner. I dont rag on the truck. The major noticable vibration comes when it shifts at 40-45 mph. I believe it is when it shifts into 4th gear. (I think).
This might be a long shot, but our trucks have a known problem with the fuel line quick connect fittings on the suction side of the fuel system near the fuel tank. I think is was KWIK who documented a really good test for air in the system due to those fittings. It looks like a simple test of fuel being pumped into a catch basin and observing the amount of bubbles as a result of air in the fuel. Just a thought.
