Deb, Deb, Deb:-X23
1. An inch or two on each side is not 'fit just fine' ask Kev
2. well, you should have at least figured that they would put some size of mirrors on it.
3.humm, I am somehow suprised that you didn't by now find it a horrible inconvieniance to post what seems to be your #1 Bitc# YET AGAIN. and eh, 3. What you 'paid for an EB' wasn't enough to cover the cost of including the power folding mirrors, if it was, it would have them.
4. your facts are not straight, see #1 & ask Kev (for those who don't already know, Kev hit the sides of their narrow garage door openings several times before with their '98 Expy)
5. Stop camping and stay in a motel instead. (or in this case, stop roughing it in a big ole sport 'ute and drive a smaller one (Explorer maybe), have a contractor combine two of your small doors into one larger double door, continue to rolldown your POWER window and fold in the drivers side mirror or park it in the driveway.
After reading all of Deb's posts, I continue to see that she finds it unacceptable that her small children face the cold weather. I too have a small child, and we park our Expedition outside all year long. Living in Denver provides some very cold times, yet my son isn't bothered by the cold air. In fact, he loves to go outside and play in the cold and snow.
The fact that your children are exposed to the cold air occasionally is NOT a valid reason for your complaint, but a mere excuse. It seems to me that you are too PI$$ED off because you post what you think is a problem with Ford's new Expedition, but get no support from anyone because nobody agrees with you. You should have realized by now that you are barking on the wrong board. Try the Chevy board. They may agree with you a little more, or maybe they too have given you the same cold shoulder!
Hey Deb......... They also make 10' and 19' doors. Did you bother to ask them about those? Oh I'm sorry, I forgot, THIS IS FORDS INCOMPETENTCEY! I thought I was talking to a rational person! Just give up! Watch an Expedition commercial, in fact, TAPE IT! then watch it over and over and over again. Then when you got it memorized, come back here and tell us honestly where it says that this is an average sized vehicle or standard sized! After all, we are talking about the #1 selling FULLSIZED SUV on the market! GET IT?......FULL SIZED! This means full width too! I measured the mirrors on the 2003 and together they only measure 19 3/4 from the farthest body curve on it! thats both of them put together. The vehicle is almost 21' long! If they put smaller mirrors on it then you wouldn't see to pass, park,or put on eyeliner! I'm about tired of you putting down Ford, Expeditions, and male drivers! This is rediculous! Once again I state......." Pi$$ poor judgement on your part, does not constitute an emergency on anyone else's!
>Why do you
>think they put them on the Navigator---because they KNEW it
>didn't fit into normal sized garage door.
Let this die already . . . . at least the comment above . . .
You pay the price for the Navigator, you get LOTs of cool gizmos. The folding mirrors are a tribute to every single time anyone ever had to get out and fold a mirror for ANY reason (and curse doing it!!!)! ! ! ! They are also on the small GMC SUVs - there are no problems with these mini SUVs fitting. Why the mirrors? BECAUSE IT IS A COOL OPTION. That is like saying electric antennas were made for car washes ONLY.
Debnkev, I certainly can see your point, Ford has made this vehicle with bigger mirrors than its previous version, now it will not reasonably fit into a standard width garage. I cannot imagine having to mess with the mirrors every time in and out of the garage. However, I think it's going to be a hard sell for you. Is the option of putting on retractable mirrors even a possibility? Sounds a little pricey at best. Good luck, but I think Ford's gonna tell you to hit the door.
I HAVE HAD MY 03 BAUER FOR 6 WEEKS IT HAS EVERY OPTION INC. NAV SYSTEM. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THERE ARE NO SYSTEM MAPS FOR SASKATCHEWAN THAT ARE ANY GOOD. BUT FORD ASSURES ME THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. REAL PROBLEM IS WIND NOISE FROM MIRRORS. DOES ANYBODY ELESE HAVE THIS PROBLEM? ANY FIX? FORD SAID LIVE WITH IT! I SAY NOT FOR $60,000. I'LL GET A NAVIGATOR!
JUST TALKED TO FORD AND THY SAID WIND IS WHISTLING AROUND BETWEEN MIRROR GLASS AND MIRROR HOUSING NO FIX AVAILABLE... COULD TAKE A YEAR AND MINE WAS THE FIRST REPORTED CASE. NOT VERY HAPPY:-(
