Yet another transmission question?

for the gurus, I want to install a inline trans filter, truck has 39,000 on the clock. I am spinning 46's so a little pm might help. Which line is not the return line on the trans the top or bottom one? This truck has been nothing but god to me, so I am good too it. Well other than the steering gear.(expected) Go FORD.

39K...what MY is the truck? You should already have an external (in-line Tranny filter).

Correct me if I'm wrong but the ext. tranny filter is a bypass filter.

Assuming you posted this in the right forum, your truck already has a filter in the cooler line. Don't add a second, the additional restriction isn't good for it.

69cj...I think I've heard it referred to as a Bypass, but my understanding is that all tranny fluid cycles thru it from the front air-cooled tranny cooler unit? I may be wrong.

Maybe Mr. Kovalsky could shed some light on this?
