vinyl vacum lines
Does anyone have any ideas my ford 89 has those stock vacume lines and I went to napa to replace them I think I can hear a leak wright were they join the rubber fittings. I was told they almost never go bad and just to use seal all around the part that joins to the rubber (stock lines)

LOL! "Never go bad". After years of heat cycling and the all the salt you have on Vancouver Island, that plastic has to give sometime. I have had the same experience down in the Okanagan. If possible, just replace all the vinyl with rubber and never worry about it again. The worst lines you have to watch out for are the a/c control lines to the fresh air door. They are the main culprets of a vacuum leak.

Yeah that is what I thought. Don't have air conditioning if that is what you meant so no worrys their. Do you have to use the exact size diameter or can it be a bit bigger. just want it to idle like new.

Tighter fit, the better. If your repairing a damaged section of vinyl lines, I will usually cut a rubber line that fits nicely over the vinyl line, then apply some rtv on the outside of the vinyl line before slipping the rubber line over it, just as insurance it will not leak.
