Okay update, the tires (mud grizzlys) perform awesome, and i made a mistake, there 285/75/17. Now my truck rides about like my caddi. Heres where the rant part comes in, i went to ford to have them recalibrate my speedo, they said it'd take an hour and cost 80 bucks!!! how far off is my speedo coming from 265's? I thought i read on another guys post that it took the dealership like 20 mins and cost like 15 bucks or sumthin..
O and also checked into a line_x spray in bed liner, crazy expensive, like almost 575 bucks! Anyone know of any spray in bed liner that cost less that lasts almost as long?? Thx in advance

Hence the name "stealership"... It's amazing what they'll charge for.
Check around and see if you have an aftermarket speed shop or something similar. I took mine to a local off road shop (when I lived in AZ) and he did it in like 2 minutes, didn't charge me a dime.

If you post your original tire size and what you went to I'll run the numbers for you...
It is right at a 10% increase in tire size. Hence, if your speedometer is reading 60 MPH, you will actually be traveling 66 MPH.
As for the dealership, they all vary. Some have a minimum labor charge of 30 or 60 minutes. Regardless of whether the work took 30 seconds or the full "charged" time. Last truck that I had the speedometer corrected on, the shop charged me 30 minutes of labor and the fix took them about 5 minutes to do. They did not even pull it into the shop. Still cost me $40 though.
I live in WA and they have like 9.6 % sales tax. I've had Rhino liner in a previous truck and went with Line-X and in my opinion the Line-X is much better (I've had it about 5 years). So, I started calling in Oregon (no sales tax) and found a dealer in Milwaukee, OR (I know that's not how they spell it in OR, but it's near Portland) that did if for considerably cheaper than anyone else I found. Call around and offer a cash deal, no credit card. People are hungry and it's mostly labor and a couple gallons of material, and the warranty fees. You should be able to find someone to work with you. I did it on a trip to CA and was there when he opened that morning. Good Luck, Mike
thx for the info, ya prior military and the tire/speedo ratio helps. now i know how fast im actually going!! Looks line the line x is what im gonna hafta go for, but man thats alot of cash, but i guess its worth it min the end...
well i guess sence stealerships not selling cars or trucks they'll hike up their prices in the shop...studies have shown more and more ppl are fixing the vehicle instead of buying new ones...hope i didnt hyjack this thread?
Borrow someone's GPS and check what your real road speed is. I went from 265's to 285's on my 2001, and now the speed is just about 1 MPH high at 60. Not that it's directly related to your later-model, but who knows how accurate the speedo was BEFORE the tire change
Linex dealers are allowed to set pricing at whatever the market will bear. Jake, if you don't mind me asking, which linex dealer (IL) quoted you the 450? Seems like a good price.
