2005 E-350 Door Lock Cylinders
Does anyone know if the E-350 use the SAME lock cylinder on the Side Door (for the 2 side door version) as it does on the REAR cargo door?
I know the LEFT Driver and RIGHT Passenger ones are different --- Mirror Images.
What about the rest?
Thanks!
Answered my own question.
Source of lock cylinder:
$25 or so each, $50 a pair or less at Carquest, Partsource, etc.
Black trim finish seems to be much cheaper.
The cylinders come in mirror image pairs (white = left, black=right)
For the Cargo side (of the 2 hinged door version) door, use the black cylinder.
INSTALL TRICK: attach the black plastic tab to the Lock Rod using the lock cylinder hole, then thread the assembly through (only one way it fits), then fit the black clip that holds the lock on.
For the Rear cargo door, use the WHITE cylinder.
Remove trim, and the license plate / etc. bezel to do the job.
Note: there are 2 possible orientations of the lock Rod.
One way it doesn't work, the other it does.
You know you got it right if you test it, and the Key turns one way 1/8 turn properly either direction.
Have fun.
The ignition cylinder have a nib at the end of a spring steel tab that holds the cylinder inside the column.
On my part, the nib is reversible, big nib is the wrong one for the E 350 2005.
Remove the nib (it is just clipped on) and then reverse it to use the small nib.
Then it installs fine.
