Factory Step removal??

Any of you folks take off the factory fiberglass steps?
Got any pictures of what your truck looks like without them?
My CC SB looks just a little "squat" IMO what with the short wheelbase and the factory step under the doors.
I am thinking taking them off would create some more openness under the truck but would like to have a look at a truck that has had that done before I unbolt and remove the rascals.

Just curious............

thanks!

Wow. Have not seen you in a while.

I honestly don't know how those bolt up there. I imagine pretty interestingly like the nerf bars doo.
I ended up breaking a bracket before I figured out the were bolted further up under the rocker panel and stuff.

Mine were not factory but after market. They were on when I bought the truck. Wife called it my pimp-mobile. Although they look good in the picture they had a lot of cracks and dents from PO.

This is what it looked like before ...

And this is what it looks like now ...

Only thing the state puts down here is sand and gravel. Once everything clears up they come through with sweepers to remove it. Although we don't have the quantity of snow / ice you guys do, unless we get out of town and up in the mountains.

Talyn- been lurking more than posting lately.
I've looked at them from the underside when doing oil changes and it looks like a fairly simple unbolt to remove. I was just wondering to get an idea of what it'd look like if I did take them off by looking at others who have done so.
I was in love with them when I first got the truck because my old '88 gasser 250 had some rusting out black nerf bars that looked like crap.
But I am thinking it would make the truck look a little "leaner" with them off. Looking at Husslers pics, I like what I see. If anyone has a short bed extended cab that took these things off, I'd love to see their pics.
I do use the step routinely, I have noticed. So I would likely replace them with a pair of those short aluminum single steps.
Thanks for the photos.

Hi I was looking over your post in regards to the nerf bars. I was looking to buy a new set. Is there any differences between the sets between 1997 and say 2003? I'm having a hard time finding a used set for my 1997 CC SB 4x4 PS. Any help would be much appreciated! Dusty

Got mine from here new, a few years ago. You do have to drill 1 hole in the frame to secure rear. They have held up well. Westin is a good brand but prices vary big time on the internet.

I'm in the same boat. I'll do my best to try to save mine. I was thinking about a square tubing replacement as an option.

I keep an eye out for good ones. Next to impossible to find. They were built to self destruct.
