So the superduty guys sent me over to these forums for a few of my questions to help me poke around a little more. I was told by a reliable source that if I lifted my truck like I wanted to, and put the wheels and tires on my truck that I want to, then I wont be able to pull much less drive the truck. I want to do a 6 or 8" lift with a set of american force or the likes wheels with 37 - 13.50 - 22's on it. He told me that there was not enough I could do for power to get my truck to be able to pull ultimately the trailer I want. I was thinking a banks power pack, tuning, and gearing would be enough. At MOST I will be pulling a 28' enclosed with my Shelby or my S-10 in it, just a toy hauler. I don't haul much in the bed just stuff like ladders and work stuff if I even drive my truck which I don't most of the time. So here is what I need to address:
1. Can I lift my truck like I want with a wheel and tire setup like I want and be able to pull still?
2. If I can and need power stuff, what do I need? Can I do a custom turbo or supercharger setup if need be?
is it a fifth wheel or tag along. reson i ask is you might have a height problem w/ a fifth wheel. as for power you reliable source is a diesel guy and he might give you a slanted view. the v10 makes plenty of power, just gear it correctly. with a tire that big maybe something in the low 5's. talk to mike at 5 Star Tuning | Custom Dynomemeter Chassis Tuning Products and Services hes a good guy w/ great service, he can help you w/ a good tuner. good luck.
A gear change will correct the tire size increase. What gear ratio do you have now?
4.10's and its a tag along trailer, others are worried since it is a dually that the tires might rub, but the wheels are spaced wide enough that I shouldn't have a problem. Others said stability at that height but again I have other people who have trucks lifted 8"+ that pull trailers like that no problem, however, none are dually's

Well if you can figure out what % of increase in tire size you are moving up to, you can use that same percentage to calculate what gear set you need to move up to, to keep the same towing ability. The dually will be more stable in turns, but the higher you go, the more careful you will need to be. If the tires are close to touching the side walls together at ground level they do make spacer rings the spread them out. You can also get a hitch insert that will lower the height of the trailer ball.
For#2 & #3 Like spinella noted, I suggest a gear swap to 5.XX plus, get more gear than you think you need. Then get a tune for the big bad V10, your application is perfect for one of our tunes that locks out 5th gear while towing...
I dont think you will have an issue towing the bumper pull th with the lifted dually just look at your tire ratings to make sure they can handle the weight of your rig and th and contents inside, wouldnt want anything to happen to that shelby

Hey Mike,
What do you think about doing the power pack from Banks as well?
I am not sure the pack is avail for your 08 truck. One page of their site says yes the other page says no... I would just get a free flowing muffler and maybe an intake as the stock headers flow pretty good.
13.5" wide tires on duals? Thats seems pretty wide to me without some crazy big spacer, and would that still hold up to the oem axle weight rating? This does sound like its pushing the limits of what you want to do, perhaps it is possible not sure personally.
IMO, do the lift and THEN determine whether or not you need/want the gears. I've been running 37x13.50's (and variations of that size) with my 3.73 gears for about 6 years now (maybe longer, I really can't remember when I did the lift). The heaviest I've consistently towed with this setup is about 7k lbs (13k lbs once but that was only about 100 yards to help my pops get his stacker trailer out of the dunes). My definition of consistent relates to about 30-40 times. Nowadays, I'm only pulling about 4-5k lbs a few times a year and the truck performs great (albeit the gas mileage sucks, but I don't own the truck because it's eco-friendly). Also take into consideration that your '08 V10 and tranny has significant improvements over my 2000.
