Short of using a specialized fluid like Schaffers, Mercon V is the fluid you wanna use.

I don't think the '02's have a torque converter bolt allowing you to drain the fluid. Just do the flush as posted by Mark Kovalsky at this link Changing ATF Fluid in a E4OD and 4R100 transmission .: Articles and you'll be good to go.

No need to be leery of doing a flush.
