Alternator light out

I'm having trouble with my 97 150, I have no BATT light showing on my dash, and my alternator is not charging either. My original 180k unit failed after i saw the batt light on and no charge, i got a junk yard one, that one seemed not to work, having the same issue, batt light on no charge, then the next one they gave me, i put it on,..no charging, and now the batt light does not show at all either??
Kind of lost here,. the alt is getting 12v at the post.

Help?
Thanks

Before you do anything else, make sure the "Generator/voltage regulator" fuse isnt blown.

It's probably under the hood in the power dist. box.

Yes, it is the alternator field excitement wire fuse

Thanks, for your correct answer! The HAYNES manual has to be disciphered first before making that clear. They suck. Thanks again, I think I know wht triggered it, as I was taking the second ALT off the power line sparked from tapping the engine
quickly. that must have done it, however, if the first ALT I got from the JY worked,...this problem also wouldn't have happened!!!! Got the part for 35 dollars,..saving 100 bucks,.minus the extra trip back in to get the second one.

Yeah the wiring diagrams in a Haynes are pretty close to useless.

I bought the factory wiring diagrams/EVTM for my 87 Ranger & was so impressed with them that I also bought them for my 95 Taurus & 97 Explorer.

I like doing electrical repairs the easy way.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear you got it squared away.
