16.5" rims

I am finding out that these size rims are an extinct breed the hard way. I bought a 1983 F-250 because the tires on it were almost new. They are 33 16.5 12.50. So the rims are obviously (or need to be) 16.5 ... I have a hole that was repaired by a small dime sized weld on the inside of one of these that has a super slow leak. Can this be reliably repaired by a good welder? I cant find these damn rims ANYWHERE without going to site that charge $200+ for new ones in the old style. I cant find them at any junkyards, anyone have any ideas? My last resort may be to now go buy 2 16" tires for my stock rims and try to get them in a bigger size to at least come close to the 33's, maybe put two on the front and the other 2 33's on the back?

Is the damaged wheel aluminum? And it leaks were it was welded? If it has just a few little pinholes in the weld, I would take the tire off and smear jb weld over the weld on the inside of the rim.

It probably can be welded again, but it's hard to find someone who will take the liability working on a wheel.

+1 on JB weld, but I prefer the JB quick, sets up a lot faster

I agree on the JB weld. Don't forget to rough it up with some heavy grit sand paper, clean with a degreaser, then JB weld it up and hope for the best!

You can get 16.5" steel rims for $100-$150. If you want for real cheap then keep an eye on Craigslist. Honestly though I'd either have it welded again (properly) or do the JB weld thing on the inside.

I used some RTV once on a weld seam leak, that worked too. Years ago I got a set of 16.5 rims and almost got rid of the stock 16 rims. Luckly I didn't!
