I'm having problems with my truck downshifting to second gear anytime during driving. I've had the tranny rebuilt, replaced the range selector and solenoid pack. But my problems still exist. anyone else have this problem or happen to know how to fix it.

 

It may just be shifting from overdrive to 3rd.

Could be a bad throttle position sensor.

i have the same problem with my expy . it is driving me up a wall im ready to sell this thing if i cant soon fix it! This what i have done to the expy so far 05/01 replaced mlp box vehicle drove fine for about 12,000 miles. 07/02 same problem occured vehicle will just shift down from OD to D then even into 2 when it shifts back up it will somtimes go into nuetral . I have never had it refuse to go if i manually shift it into 2 but top speed is about 45mph ( not how i want to be driving) I have had it to ford they replaced the mlp box , trans shift solenoid and had the trans flushed. Nothing helped , ford removed the solenoid and tested the wiring harness and found a short in the harness, replaced a second mlp box and truck was fixed (or so we thought) , they did get a code out of the truck the mlp came back as out of range. 08/02 have drove the vehicle about 800 miles and problem has returned only miss shifted twice , took it directly to the ford dealer , and asked them to look at it , they found nothing wrong , no codes , and i have the vehicle back . So any ideas you have or thoughts will be greatly appreciated to help. It sounds like we have the exact same problem. I
have spent over $2000 trying to fix mine. Had the transmission
completely rebuilt. They replaced the solenoid and the
range selector. The transmission shop said it might be a
PCM (Powertrain Control Module) which would have to be
programmed at a ford dealership. I haven't checked into this
yet as I am deciding if I want to dump more money into it
or get rid of it. What is an MLP? I am very frustrated
with it and may trade it in since we have had it to ford
dealer and they can't find anything wrong with it!!! Let
me know if you figure anything out. Thanks

sorry it took so long to get back to you !!! but my dealer had my expy for 25 days!!! well just to update you the computer was replaced( not sure it fixed the problem) but it was installed so i owned it !! and a wiring problem in the main harness was found . it was suggested by ford to just replace the problem wires in the main harness because the harness is all one piece.( and very expensive)
So far the expy is driving good will keep you up dated as i get more miles on it. If you would please direct e-mail me so we can talk more on this predator_designs(No Email Addresses In Posts!) i would like to compare vin numbers , mileage etc. I have a feeling this is a ford problem and maybe if more of us complain we can get some help with it.
