Hello, I tried posting this in the 87-96 forum and got no response. I have installed my Hedman headers and have a slight problem on the driverside. The fuel line comming up from the fuel filter runs dangerously close to the header. I know it is insulated but I am scared of vaper locking and was wondering what you all did to fix this. I can zip tie it back but that only gives me 1-2" of space. Here is a picture (red arrow)
Pass side was a breeze. Only had to trim the frame (Red line)
honestly have no clue. That's why I am asking for help. It does have that insullation around the fuel line. Were you thinking I should wrap the header. How well does the header wrap work. I've never used it before. Thanks
I second that, the header wrap will give you a major temperature drop and would protect that fuel line. Header wraps will also increase your power slightly. You will need the header warp and the special metal ties to secure it. Since the fuel line is already wrapped, you shouldn't need any extra protection beyond wrapping the headers. You should wrap the other side too.
Well, a little update for you all. Be careful when moving the factory nylon lines. They kink and break very, very easy. I was under the truck today tightening everything and noticed that the factory had excess fuel line curled by the fuel filter. So I thought I could just unhook and unwind the excess to move it away from the header. It would have been sucessful had the line not broke. Later found out that soaking the line in hot water allows you to shape it without breaking. Oops! I have some excess -6AN stainless braided fuel line that I will just use and Russells had the fittings to plug into the fuel rail. Thanks for your help. Will post pictures when it's done
