test new injectors?
I am soon replacing both heads and all injectors. If I buy new not rebuilds do I still need to get them pop tested? The reason for replacing the heads is a bad intake valve. I know that you should replace the ip also but no money for that right now and the ip is a rebuild unit and not that old as far as I know. Also does anyone know the casting number on the heads for an 86 6.9? The place I am gonna get the heads from want that number and I don't want to pull the covers till I get the new parts.

I'd pop test them, that way they can be set within 50psi or so and make it run smoother. Type4 over on OB will do that with the sets he sells and I think redo it after you've run them in for a few miles (your truck would be down while you ship them...). Make sure you check the timing when you install the new injectors. If no one else has an engine open, I can check the one I'm tearing down for the casting #. If I had read this first, I would have written it down as I just pulled the valve covers....
