Which Gauges to install
dependant on year. 03-04 dont have a factory boost gauge. 05+ have factory boost.
if i was to fill four slots
egt, boost, fuel, trans. the reason i would choose fuel out of the other ones is that later you could get a digital monitor to watch the other vitals. the egt and fuel pressure are not avalible thru the ob2 port. i would however want to monitor the engine coolant and oil temp along with the other 3

The ISSPRO performax series is all digital, and has a nice, very simple method of sending all data (from electronic sending units all going to one master 'sender') via a few wires, which can be picked up by each gauge. SO any gauge can plug into any wire; pretty cool. I was already on my way with Autometer, so there was no turning back. Plus I like analog gauges.
I used the Isspro HPOP gauge, but otherwise went Autometer because I have (in process of) blue led's behind all gauges and instruments/switches. A bit of customization and fun for me. I have 7 installed gauges with 5 more to be installed. Will post pictures when I'm completed.
Hard to beat a custom tuned SCT X3 from eric @ innovative. Also, Scangauge II is a pretty cool LCD OBDII Readout.
Make a list what most people say, as the gauges that are the most important, compile that list, and see what you really want to install.
Autometer makes:
- 1,2,3,4 gauge pods for the pillar instead of the handle.
- Single pod for on top of the steering pillar
- Dual pod for 2 gauges on the sides of the instrument cluster
- Triple gauge pod for above the stereo.
- Triple gauge pod next to the driver's right knee.
- 2,3,4 gauge pod for above the rear view mirror.
- AND you can drill out a 2" hole on each side of the steering wheel
Electronic/Digital = good (and easier to install in most cases)
Analog = BEST (imo) because you have true/real readings (more difficult to install)
EGT = a must to save from melting the cylinders, especially if tuned
OIL TEMP = good to monitor vs h20 temp
H20 TEMP = same as above (oil/h20 should be close to 20 degrees apart, no?)
OIL PRESS = pretty important, as it's related to hpop
HPOP PRESS = will save your injectors when hpop starts to go
FUEL PRESS = will indicate bad pump or clogged filter
VOLTS = good to see if batteries are going bad
AMMETER = good to see alternator working
BOOST = good to see if issue with turbo
TRANS TEMP = important if you tow
DIFF TEMP = important if you tow
I also added an autometer clock.
I've seen many people request info about problems they are having, and many, if not MOST of those problems would be quickly solved if they had some meter readings.
