Ranger Brake question

My brother brought his 2001 ranger over today to put brake pads on. he was out in the barn working and i went out ther to see how it was going. the old pads had a ridge on them that was like 1/4 of the pad. it seems like the rotors are too small. if thats true hes been running with them for at least a year. first of all did the rotors come in different sizes? and would continued use of the small rotor be a problem? hes using the correct brake pads on the wrong rotor. I told him to go get the right rotors right away. he thinks he can run these rotors through this latest set of pads. and replace the rotors with the next set of pads. what do you think?

There is more than one rotor size . It happened to me on my 03 at NAPA. I too didn't realize till rechecking pads later and noticing ridge. I changed it all out to the proper size (pads/rotor). Next time will size up old to new to eliminate the possibility of it happening again. I assumed that the counter person and app chart would be correct but not so.
