It would help to know the year and model of truck you are referring to. Start with the basics, pull the codes. Many errors do not turn on the Check Engine Light.
I don't think its the tranny problem because i have the same tranny and i couldn't be happier. I myself drive 80 miles round trip to work and i have notice my 5.0 does not like hill's or steep climbs going flat it does great but it really doesn't like hills. I actally have found the 4r70w tranny to be a really good transmisson it never complains and always delivers. maybe its getting to hot? do you have a tranny coolier added? hope we can help you fix the problem
thanks was thinging of putting a extra cooler on it and it has 3.88 gears and truck calls for 265 and only have 235 on it
did you mean 3.08 gears or did you do a gear swap? my 95 f150 also has the 3.08 gears and 5.0,what a bad choice for gears this was from ford!! 3.88's were never offered from the factory on our trucks, haven't even heard of this as an option from gear vendors. If yours are 3.08's,that is a big part of your problem!!
If your truck is a 2wd then the factory tire size is 235 75 15. Some 4x4 had the 265. Having the 235 is actually better for the drivability especially with 3.08 gears.
i checked the ratio and it is 3.55 it is 4x4 but the weird thing is that i made a trip back and forth in june drove all the way down to bristol tennesse no stoping both of them trips no problem 80 mph on my trip from bristol to skool that is when this started to happen half way in kentucky on the high down shifted and pretty much died to 30 mph left sit for little made it farther once in ohio on the flat cruized no problem it feels like you are driving two footed one on the brake and gas when you get to a hill i change cap rotor wires plugs fuel filter tranns fluid and filter still have the problem it is only happens after about 200 miles ok right away
did code scan and key on engine off codes 111 system checks ok, 172 oxygen sensor not switching-system is or was lean, 332 egr did not open/respond during test or if memory code did not open interminttantly, 334 evp sensor is or was high
