Oil pans

Tugged the old motor out of my truck tonight and noticed I have the rear sump pan and the "new" 75 motor I bought has a front sump pan on it. Will I be able to change the pickup from my old motor to my new motor or is it a lost cause? I would think (haven't pulled the pans yet, thats tomorrow) that you'd be able to change them out but then I would also think that ford would have taken a page from chevrolets book and mounted the starter to the block instead of the bell housing. I would love to know if this new motor actually does run before I put it in my truck.

never really thought about it. i would guess that it would. you might want to post this thread in the appropriate engines forum. there are forums for pretty much every ford motor.
