Ive got a 2000 f350 7.3 6 speed 4x4 6 inch lift 37 incht ires. Mods include 4 inch exhauset diavblo predator programer shimmed fpr hutch mod 6637 filter new clutch kit with solid flywheel.
My questions are well first my alternator took a dump yesterday I need one as cheap as possible as im off work for 6 weeks for hernia surgery secondly when im tryn to take off and shift fast the clutch pedal sticks on the floor and i end up revvn engine to 4500 rpm wich im sure isnt good. I dont think ti is the hydraulics as it doest bleed off or leak btw i also installed the updated release arm when i did clutch.
Next ? is on power i thought it ran good til i drove my buddies 03 6.0 on 38 inch tires with a bully dog programer and no exhaust. Are the 6.0 that much more powerful or is it the programmer? Ive been wantn a dp tuner but money is kinda tight but if it gave me that kind of power id break out the mastercard and charge it tomorow. Im talkn on the 6.0 2nd 3rd gear 2000 rpm mat it and rrrrrrr tires are spinning. Lets hear some opinions.
thanks
chris
I'd play with the pedal while the truck is off and see if you can get it to stick to the floor. There's an assist spring on the pedal that helps hold it down once you reach the breakover point. The pedal will usually pop back up. If it's not, you can check to see if the little **** on the pedal is coming loose where the hydraulics attach, otherwise I'd guess it's a hydraulic issue. When my clutch hydraulics failed the pedal stayed on the floor, but it never did leak a drop.
The 6.0's do have more power, and the DP is a BIG improvement over the Diablo, but it's hard to say if it will match your buddies truck. Did your buddy re-gear for his 38's? Make sure to compare rear end gears also.
no regear were both 3.73 limited slip 6 speed im ext can longbed he is ex cab short bed. im on 37,s hes in 38.5 tires. ill lube up my pedal check spring and go from there. ive tried to make it stick and cant the only way is if im goin fast on the fuel hard and try to shift fast. it seems like the engine rpms hav sumtn to do with it.
My buddy's '05 with just intake, exhaust, and BullyDog made 390/700 on the dyno. You'll need a lot of mods to keep up with that. You'll keep up fine with a stock 6.0L, but if it's tuned you'll need injectors.
When you shift gears you're not supposed to press the clutch peddle all the way to the floor. Doing so only wears out the clutch brake, and when that goes out then your stuck grinding the gears trying to put it into gear from a dead stop. At least thats what I've been taught.
LOL I wish i had a clutch break. Youd be right if i had a non syncronized tranny like in the big rigs. No clutch breaks in these trucks. Thanks for replies so far
