New Transmission?
My 1998 2WD F-150 has 235,000 miles on it and the tranny seems to be the first major part to fail. The tranny is a 4R70W. When I'm driving along and let up on the gas and then step on it again it slips like it's in neutral for a second or two and then slams into gear. I have taken good care of it with regular fluid changes but I know nothing lasts forever. Has anyone ever fixed something like this without replacing the whole transmission? If so what did you do? Or do I need to buck up and replace it? If so where is a good place to but a rebuilt transmission? Any help would be appreciated.
