I have a 2004 6.0L with 32,000 miles yes thats right 32,000 miles that started missing pedal to the floor would not move. So i had to get it towed to the dealer. They said that 3 injectors were bad they changed them took it for a test drive did the same thing. Checked it again said 2 more injectors were bad. They said this could not be then they said they checked the FICM it was bad changed it out truck runs fine. Service writer said ford was going to cover the FICM. But i was stuck with a 1,700 bill to change out the 3 injectors that i don't think were bad in the first place. I think it was the FICM. I don't think i should have to pay for a miss diagnosis on their part. So the dealer is going to call me with a time to meet and get the injectors tested with me present. Is their anything i need to arm myself knowledge wise before i go their. I just hope they are my injectors
I'm confused by this, because the powertrain warranty and the emissions warranty are both 5yrs/100,000 miles. If the warranty is good for the FICM, it should be good for the injectors as well.
Do you happen to know when the truck was originally sold? I ask because that's when the warranty started...so it's possible the truck is still under warranty by time, which is in question. My truck was sold 9/04...thus ran out just last month. If your truck was sold October, November or December of '04 (or even later) then it's still under warranty and I'd take the matter up with Ford Customer Service.
If that is the "in service" date, you are out of warranty.
The only recourse is if they somehow screwed up the repair (i.e. put in unnecessary parts)....
Diplomatically approach them, without necessarily pointing fingers, and often, a reputable dealer will just take $$$ off the bill knowing they screwed up the diagnosis.
Be far to everyone... those injectors cost them a pretty penny....
If they marked the bill down to in effect, giving you the injectors for their cost, that is a big deal... if they took off some or all of the labor for putting it in.. that is a very big deal.
Don't go for the jugular unless you really think they screwed you over... often it is incompetence, not thievery.
I would have payed for the FICM about 1,000 $ cheaper than the parts and labor to replace the 3 injectors. I know that my truck is out of warranty i wasn't expecting it to be under warranty but i don't want to pay for unnecessary parts ether. I've already asked them if they could even meet me half way help me out and they said no way.
