Couldn't find any pipe. Stewart ran to his house to grab a couple things that should get it.

Just finished up. Reps to you guys with great ideas to help. Some of you I was in jail on, but you have them coming. I have never had an oil change take 6 hours before. Big shout out to Jim and Jeff who picked up the phone and offered up great ideas.

I will post pics tomorrow of what it took to get it done. Its a good thing Stewart and I believe in the power of prayer!

The one night out of the week where i could have come and helped... Did my phone ring??? um.... NO. Its cool though. I only have a shop full of random tools. And a barn surrounded by pipe thats being torn down. Not to mention my non-dainty hands... But its cool. Im glad you guys finally got it done after 5+ hours...

Nolan, had either of us known it would take this long, or that we'd have such a huge problem, you would for sure have been there to commiserate with us because misery loves company bro.

This thing just kept getting worse, and worse, and worse! Nothing would work. I busted Pete's metal filter wrench, ended up driving home...twice...to get tools, busted BOTH of my strap wrenches (wait until you see the pictures of one of them!), and it still wouldn't budge...and I mean not a millimeter!

Pete used my tin snips to cut the filter housing off, up where it mounts to the housing. He'll post pictures of that tomorrow. But then we still had to figure out how to unscrew the filter mounting plate. Pete was under the truck, trying to bust it loose with a hammer and screwdriver, and I was standing there (my back was toast, was difficult to lay down on the ground anymore) praying to God, asking Him to please help out because I was dunsky (stick a fork in me, I'm done! LOL) and I didn't wanna be there till midnight, struggling with this darn thing.

Then boom, my prayer was answered, because clear as day I knew how to get it off. I could see it clearly in my head. I told Pete to use his needle nose pliers, invert them and stick the ends of the handles into the holes of the screw-on mounting plate of the oil filter. Then I took a crowbar, and using it as a horizontal lever placed between the handle of the pliers, slowly unscrewed the mount. Pete has pictures of that too.

The rubber seal would groan with every turn, not wanting to give up it's hold. It was mind-boggling how tight that grip was on the seal.

Anyway, pictures will be posted tomorrow. I think a couple of them may make you guys nod in amazement.

Stewart

Edit: I just re-read Chris' post and now that we got it off, and in light of the way we got it off, I now understand what Chris was telling us to do. It's a little different than he suggested, but I see now what he was suggesting.
