yeah she smokes, definitely not like a train but its a decent haze when you get on it, when my girl gets out of work ill have her take a picture of some smoke. when i have the extra coin ill have jim whip me up a set of stage 1s and ill find an extra tranny when i get the injectors, i want to slowly learn how to build a trannsmission, its like the ultimate goal for building lol so many parts..
from what i'm told auto trannys arent too bad to build.. its just getting all the clutch packs to line up. i have done it once on reverse/1st gear clutches on a 4r100 and it SUCKS!!!!!!! of course the bell housing has to point straight up in the air and you pull it apart that way i believe. look for some instructions somewhere on it and you should be able to do it. just take it slow like you said

Do you need any special tools to rebuild a auto trans? It'd be kinda cool to build your own with heavy duty parts. I know mine probably won't last too long once I get a chip and Stage I's but that'll take a while for me to get the money for them.
Right now I have a Ford reman with only 10k on it so it should last me a little while. I just don't want to drop $4k on a good tranny if I can build one cheaper over time myself.

The problem I have found with auto trannys isn't that they are hard to rebuild, it's that sometimes it can cost more to rebuild one than it does to just buy a new one. If all you need is an overhaul kit it isn't too bad($500), but once you start getting into valve bodies($250), torque converters($700 or more), etc, it really adds up quickly. I was going to rebuild the e4od in my bronco last year and it was actually cheaper for me to buy a new one. The new one also came with a new tc and a 3 year unlimited mile warranty. It's fun to rebuild one just for the learning experience though.
yeah id just like to have a spare low mile tranny out of a truck that an old guy drove or something just to have peice of mind that im not going to be out of a truck for a few weeks or months, i had TC scare and i was looking for a new convertor and dammnnn they are friggen expensive sunline wanted 1200 for it and racer x was the most decent at a beefed up stock for 600+, im at 122k miles right now and fresh fluid, im taking it easy on the old girl with a few romps here and there untill i find a deal on a nice remaned tranny.

i wouldn't assume so technically. i wanna say there are some tools that help get the clutch packs lined up when you try to put them in. when you install a clutch pack you slide it down the shaft. you will feel it bump, you mess with it till it falls down a little. mess with it a little more til it falls to the next clutch, repeat til it seats all the way down. its a pain the a$$, but we got it done. we were just doing one clutch pack which is the very top pack closest to the TC pump. NEVER pull the TC pump if the tranny is not pointing straight up. that is how we got in that mess b/c we changed the seal with the tranny horizontal.. the clutch pack fell and nothing would seat again til we pulled it and put it together correctly. thankfully it was just one pack, but that took us several hours of trying to get it to go back in there right. it sucked... LoL
Those do look nice, look even bigger with them mitter cut.
Anyone hace picts with the stacks on the outside of the body, by the cab/box junction. I have a cap on my truck but was thinking that some 4" up along the outside, similar to big rigs, would look good also.

The reply was too, would of been better with audio. No offense taken. I thought it was funny. Although I am a little confused at the set up in the back of the superduty.

The super duty one was some guys playing a joke on one of their friends lol. I wish I could have gotten some pictures of those messed up stacks I saw around here. Personally, I like the look of the ones that come up beside the cab like you mentioned, but only on a flat bed. Just my opinion, but flat beds look bad with all the exhaust exposed underneath them. I don't like that look on a regular bed though, because, well, I just don't think it looks right.
A few weeks ago I saw an early 90's camaro with about a 6" lift and mud tires on it. There is a guy in the town where I work that has a dodge 3500 dually with about an 8" lift, but he's put a single rear wheel rear end under it. I just don't get people some times lol.
