Okay tonight i was surfing Craigslist and come across a ad for a Dana 60F so i do a search on Google look at a couple of sites talking about the front Dana 60's about the stamp on the webbing on the right side. As you all know i just assumed that i had a D44HD but i got curious and went and looked and what did i find my front axle is stamped 60F and to clarify Dana 60's were either Kingpin or some came with Ball joints mine are Ball joints okay so is the 60F stamp code for it being a D44HD but if it was then it should be stamped 44.
If my memory serves me yours is a camper special and those came with a dana 70 or 80 rear and 60 front. the 60 F I beleive stands for Dana 60 F is for front axle, but then again Clint and Jack might know more about this than I do and I have had a few beers :-)
The 10 bolt diff cover measuring 10.75" x 11.5", 3.125" diameter axle tubes.
The easiest way to tell a D60 from a D44 is the diameter of the hub. Lug pattern alone is insufficient as there were 8 lug D44s. The lockout hub on a D60 is approx 4" in diameter.
Seems you need to get a measure device out. The 44 cover is also 10 bolt but like the lock out hub it is smaller.
Well i'll have to live with the fact it's a D44HD it was a long shot but as a matter of fact it does have the 1 ton hubs on it and i did measure them and they are 4 inches across.
