Well, its been a couple years since I posted here. I ended up selling my old 2000 Excursion a couple years ago.
But, here I am again in another 2000 Excursion. I found a very good deal and traded my 2000 Tahoe for it through another private party looking to downsize.
Anyway, the check engine light is on in this new 2000 V10.
I am going to clean the MAF, see if there are any vacuum leaks, and see if anything is unplugged. The PO did replace both O2 sensors, but it didn't solve the issue, so I am starting from square one. Any other ideas to look for? It pretty much a bone stock setup.
I think you're on the right track with cleaning the MAF - I'd expand that to the intake as well. Get a can of carb cleaner and spray your vacuum connections as well to see if idle changes at any of them. A good fuel injector cleaner along with replacing the fuel filter would be next on my list.
I changed the oil today with synthetic and some Lucas Pure Synthetic stablizer, and worked on it some more. The CEL did come back on this morning. As soon as it does the mpg literally drops 2.5mpg immediately. So, its something I need to get squared away.
I reset the computer again and then I sprayed brake cleaner all over the intake and vacuum lines with no evidence of a leak anywhere. Pretty much used a full can on it, so I am pretty confident that I don't have a leak or crack in a hose anywhere. I also talked to the guy I got it from today and he is going to forward me the receipts for the O2 sensors so I can take them back if I have to.
I went ahead and pulled the MAF section of the intake tube and sprayed brake cleaner all over it and thoroughly got everything.
