so i posted a thread awhile back saying i had oil in my coolant. and alot of people siad oil cooler seals and o-rings. well i finally did it. it was pretty damn easy. and straight forward. the only thing is them seals and o-rings are expensive. 76 dollars from the local ford dealer. but i havnt seen any oil in my coolant so far. so thanks guys. i hope this help anyone that has the same problem
Hey great work! Can you tell us about the FIX? What was involved, etc. I must have missed your previous post. Thats a fix I haven't heard about yet. I for one would appreciate more info in case I should have to do it.
well its pretty staight forward. i got directions from a haynes manual.
you have to drian all your fluids. really well or youll have a nice surprise of radiator fluid all over you when you pull your block heater off.
you need 10m socket or rench to get it off. you to pull off your radiator hose the lower one to get to the fron of the oilcooler. the back is realy plan and simple its all right there where your oil filter plugs in. than once you get it off. i pried mine apart with my hands and a pipe wrench. (its all pressed together)
than i cleaned it all out with soap and water and than let it dry.
put my new o-rings in. than i put a ratchet strap around it and pressed it back together. (becareful doing that makes sure you dont have the ratchet on the heads because it alluminum and it could crack) and than you just put it all back together.
i changed mine because i kept getting oil in my coolant.
unfurtunatly when i looked today at my radiator fluid there was ANOTHer small ring of oil so i dont know if i fixed it. im goin to flush out my radiator again hopping that mabe some was sill in the iono. but its diffanetly worth doing.
sorry for the long discription i hope it helped. if it made sence at all
It's going to take a while to get ALL the oil to float on top of the coolant in the degas bottle, but you'll know soon enough if you still have the problem.
Did you lubricate the o-rings with anything for re-assembly?
