I have had a couple mornings of problem starts when I left my truck out (just in the 30's). I checked the relay and there is juice to both sides (didn't check voltage tho). I just checked the wire harnesses and all the glow plug pins read below 1 ohm.
I'm going to change the oil tomorrow ( has 6,000 miles on synth Rotella). Any other ideas? Is there a separate test for glow plugs other than checking the resistance?
Yup, the engine turns, and turns and turns. Once in a while I get a little catch, and then back to turning over. I get white smoke when it catches and when it finally starts, usually after about 6 or 8 tries.
I'm going to order a stancor relay. The one I have on is from NAPA and only a year old but is probably the issue since glow plugs test ok.
Take a meter accross the leads ( large ). Look for a voltage difference. I HAD a working relay once, but half of the contact internal was busted, so it was loading up bad and not heating anything.
