Why is it that I never have these frickin" problems when I'm working?
Anyhow, I hve this intermittent problem. get in the truck and turn the key. all the lights and everything works but, nothing from the engine. took it into the shop. the guy said he has seen this problem before but could not pin it down. however, he offered a temporary solution. get a remote starter switch and jump the solenoid. No problem. that works. I came to the conclusion that it was the ignition. put in a new one. no change. I'm thinking now that it might be the microswitch for the gear shifter on the steering column. not sure about that though because it still will not start in neutral.
Any ideas??
Pull up on the gear shifter while its in park and see if it will start. If so you just need some adjusting or bushing replacement so they Neutral Saftey Switch will be activated properly. My 79 F150 won't start unless I pull up on the gear shift lever.
