need help

this morning on my way to work i noticed the smell of diesel coming through my vents. i looked on the ground for a leak when i got to work and there was nothing. so after the sun came up and i could see in the engine compartment i noticed a leak coming from my fuel filter housing in the engine bay. i couldn't tell which line it was coming from or if the housing was cracked.

here is my question. the truck is still under warranty so the dealership is going to be fixing it but was wondering if anyone knew how long it would take them to fix it since it is my only mode of transportation. aslo are they going to have to replace the whole housing?

Even if they do have to replace the housing, it should not be more than a few hour job.

That is an odd failure for sure. Are you sure it is not just the cap? I think I have seen one cracked housing posted in all these years.

nope it wasn't the cap. apparently it was the o ring for the fuel pressure regulator. so they replaced the regulater and o ring and i was out of there in two and a half hours. this was after they told me 3-4 days......i like the 2 1/2 hours better...LOL

ya me too. the mech said he has been seeing more 6L's coming in with that problem lately. he said it usually happens on the transfer from summer to fall and winter. especially when the temperatures change so drastically like this weekend. might be something people need to watch out for.

Like Bismic said, that's an unusual failure for sure. The tech did the right thing and replaced it all while he was there.

Glad it worked out favorable.
