The issue is on my 05 F250 PSD, the driver rear break seems to be coated in oil, really the entire inner of the wheel is coated. I am not leaking break fluid so I am thinking it's the axle that is bad, maybe a seal but my knowledge in that area is limited. I looking for suggestions on what to look for before I take in to the dealer, also what to tell the delaer. I still have a little factor warntee left maybe this would be covered?
Also after a driving there is a smell of burning oil comming from that wheel..
This thread would be best suited in the SuperDuty forum and not the 6.0L. Hopefully a moderator can move this one so that you can get a reply from someone that may have had this issue before.
But to answer you question...that sounds allot like seal is cracked/worn on the end of the axle tube. The smell of burnt oil is the gear lube that's in the rear-end. I'd get that taken care of soon before the rear end runs out of oil and causes even more problems.
