OK, so I decided to do some maintenance today and as I was cleaning up I found this lying under the truck about mid way between the front wheels. I removed and replaced the HPOP yesterday and it landed right below the cover for the HPOP main bolt. Anyone know what it is and why its not where it's supposed to live? I have no idea how it escaped! First time w/ pics so hope this works!
It actually goes inside the HPOP, behind the non-service plug.
Hi all, just got back. Bfog99, this makes sense. I had repaired the non servicible plug and had it blow out last Thursday. I wasn't aware there was a plug available with a longer thread, so I just loktited the old one in with a new o-ring. I found the plug in the street, the plastic ball in the valley, but wasn't aware of this part since I had never seen it. It was a real mystery to find it as I was cleaning up after some front end maintenance. Thanks for the info, guess I'll go remove the HPOP again, I'm getting real good at it!
Thanks guys. This was one of the few times I actually knew the answer ;-)
I had some issues with my HPOP a while ago and know them relatively intimately. I had to take mine out a total of 5 times. Have fun Brad. It gets easier the more times you do it.

You're ahead of me. Only had mine out three times, but never had the non-serviceable plug out.
Did you ever have a problem getting it to seal properly to the front cover so that the mounting gasket does not leak?
